The King Swings

"Straight Forward Maximum Energy" and "No Nonsense Bop In Your Face" are good ways to describe the immense power of The King Swings, a new Rotterdam based collective of young talented musicians. Inspired by the great Hard-Bop bands from the 50's, such as Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and Shelly Mane's Men, they strive to revive hard-swinging music and skyrocket it to a whole new level. By playing modern arrangements and original compositions they create a fresh, swingin' but most of all exciting new sound which will bring the genre right back on top of the charts!

Roaring Cats

De band, gevestigd in Amsterdam, is gespecialiseerd in het uitvoeren van deiningsnoten voor voor stilzittende drinkers én hyperactieve swingdansers: een sprong terug naar de roaring twenties, waar een mix van geluiden uit alle culturen de sound van New Orleans teweegbracht. De muziek was hot en swingend en onmogelijk om bij stil te blijven staan. Roaring Cats zijn het voorbeeld van een tijdloze samensmelting van identiteiten en muzikale ideeën tot een genre die de maatschappij in zijn greep hield voor vele jaren. Hun repertoire bestaat uit originele arrangementen van de fijnste deuntjes van de topartiesten van die tijd: van Fats Waller tot Jelly Roll Morton en Sydney Bechet, Duke Ellington tot de Hot Five en Five Pennies.

Soul Snappers Jazz trio

Hmmmm… Tasty, crunchy and delicious, like a Soul Snapper just out of the frying pan. That’s the sound of the Soul Sanppers Jazz trio. With Jelle van der Meulen on the keys and Stefan Franssen on drums they are able to set the vibe for any concert or event. It may be true that there are many fishes in the sea, but none of them are as soulful and swingin’ as this trio!

Het jonge saxofoonbeest Thijs Nissen is een Venlose Rotterdammer. Zijn Thijs Nissen Trio gaat voor de keiharde swing uit de gloriedagen van de jazz, maar schuwt ook een lyrische ballad niet. Bekend repertoire, veelal in eigen arrangementen en aangevuld met originele composities van de bandleden, maar altijd in de traditie van hun helden, zoals Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Lee Konitz en Sonny Rollins.
